Notice: Due to the COVID-19, the launch date of FCHI-2 has been delayed from April 1, 2020 to September 1, 2020
The Federal Community Housing Initiative is a $500 million investment over 10 years. There are 2 phases:
- Phase 1 (FCHI-1) provided funding over a 2-year period from April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2020. It supports federally administered community housing projects as long-term agreements reach their end dates.
- Phase 2 (FCHI-2) provides new rental assistance support to federally administered community housing providers reaching the expiration of an operating agreement. In response to the ongoing global COVID-19 outbreak, the launch date of the FCHI-2 has been delayed from April 1, 2020 to September 1, 2020. For eligible housing providers who have opted-in to Phase 2 of the FCHI-2, and who have federally administered assistance expiring in the coming months, current levels of financial assistance will be maintained until the end of August 2020.
- The delay allows adequate time for eligible housing providers who have recently opted in FCHI-2 (and who have federally administered operating agreements expiring in the coming months) to review the agreement and get it signed by their board of directors.
